Lockwood Remediation Technologies (LRT) recently played a key role in a specialized phase of the Liberty State Park Train Shed project, centered on assessing existing timber piles for potential reuse.

To support this effort, LRT designed and implemented a wellpoint dewatering system that temporarily lowered groundwater levels, enabling safe and targeted excavations. This approach provided the project team with controlled, dry working conditions—essential for accessing and thoroughly inspecting the piles in place.

With improved site conditions, the team was able to carry out efficient in-situ testing and seamlessly move between evaluation areas. Initiatives like this not only support the preservation of existing structures but also contribute to reducing overall project costs, delivering both environmental and economic benefits.
