Job Title: Staff Scientist/Engineer

REPORTING LINES                                                                            

The Staff Scientist/Engineer reports directly to the Director of Project Management but works closely with all employees within all divisions of the company.

 

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

  • Assisting Project Managers, Engineers and Estimators with daily tasks
  • Preparation of permit applications, proposals and submittals
  • Collecting, tabulating, and interpreting analytical and water treatment system operational data
  • Complete design calculations for water treatment systems
  • Generation of drawings and diagrams
  • Client and Regulatory interaction
  • Field Work including subcontractor oversight, sampling, and water treatment system setup
  • Subcontractor Management
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Basic knowledge of permitting regulations
  • Possess valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and meet firm deadlines
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work long hours as well as hours outside of the normal work day

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in technical writing
  • Ability to read construction design plans and interpret specifications
  • Experience with drawing preparation is a plus
  • Groundwater and contaminant transport modeling software experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations (MA, RI, NH, CT, VT, ME, NJ, NY, PA) a plus
  • OSHA 40 HAZWOPER and OHSA 10 Construction Safety Training

Physical Demands

Position is a mixture of office-based work and “hands-on” field work.  Occasional travel may be required as part of this position. With or without reasonable accommodation, employees may be required to perform the following activities:

 

  • Collect water samples from monitoring wells or water treatment equipment at jobsites.
  • Performance testing on recharge/injection wells
  • Walk on or around a construction/remediation jobsite
  • Oversee LRT subcontractors and/or LRT field crews
  • Climb stairs and occasionally a ladder
  • Lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

 

Compensation and Benefits

The company pays competitive salaries and provides health, dental, 401K with company contribution, profit sharing plan, paid holidays, and paid time off. This is a full-time, exempt position. The location of the job is at LRT’s main office in Leominster, MA.
