Specific project work included the excavation of manufactured gas plant (MGP) impacts across the site. LRT installed and provided a temporary on-site water treatment system rated for 100 gallons per minute (gpm). With the exception of the tanks, the water treatment system was constructed in an enclosed 40-foot conex box that was completely insulated, heated and lighted. Treated water was discharged to a tributary of Cape Island Creek in accordance with the approved New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NJPDES) permit for the site. The primary contaminants of concern in the waste stream included total suspended solids (TSS) and manufactured gas plant related compounds (MGPs).
