Project work included dewatering approximately 4.3 million gallons of water within two (2) sections of an abandoned copper mine (South Open Cut (SOC) and the South Mine (SM)) and subsequent treatment of the water prior to discharge to the Copperas Brook.
LRT provided the dewatering and water treatment services to support this project. Specifically, water from dewatering of the SOC and SM was pumped to a water treatment system designed to raise and maintain the pH of the water between 7.0 and 8.5 SU and reduce concentrations of metals and total suspended solids (TSS). The system was designed for a flow rate of up between 300 and 500 gallons per minute (gpm) and consisted of secondary solid separation via the addition of coagulant and flocculant, pH adjustment, primary bag filtration, and ion exchange media.
