LRT was contracted to design and provide a water treatment system rated to treat flowrates of up to 100 gallons per minute (gpm) to support the remedial excavations at the project. LRT performed three (3) separate bench tests to complete the design of the water treatment system. Results of the bench testing summarized that the majority of metals concentrations will be addressed through settling and filtration and that no ion exchange resin will be required to reduce dissolved metals to meet the effluent limitations outlined in the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (CTDEEP) discharge permit.
LRT provided a licensed wastewater treatment plant operator to maintain system operation and complete daily operation and maintenance (O&M). The primary contaminants of concern in the waste stream included total suspended solids (TSS), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), lead and arsenic.
