NGRID Electrical Tower Replacement

Specific project work included an electrical tower replacement project to replace the river crossing towers on the western and eastern banks of the Taunton River, located in Somerset and Fall River, Massachusetts. LRT provided dewatering and water treatment services for both of the tower excavations. Due to varying lithology, dewatering was conducted by a wellpoint system for the excavation on the Fall River side of the river and localized sumps for the excavation on the Somerset side of the river. LRT provided two (2) water treatment systems rated for up to 200 gpm and designed to treat for total suspended solids (TSS). Each water treatment system was positioned on the respective sides of the Taunton River to support dewatering completed during of each tower excavation.

Treated water discharged on the Somerset side of the Taunton River was recharged onsite and managed under a Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) Utility Release Abatement Measure. Treated water discharged on the Fall River side of the Taunton River was discharged in accordance with the project’s Construction General Permit (CGP) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
