Tom’s River Former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) Site

Specific project work included the excavation of manufactured gas plant (MGP) impacts across the site. LRT provided a wellpoint dewatering system consisting of approximately 335 wellpoints to provide dry conditions during the remedial excavation. LRT also designed and installed a temporary on-site water treatment system rated for 200 gallons per minute (gpm).  Treated water was discharged under an Ocean County Utilities Authority (OCUA) Industrial Discharge Permit for on-site disposal of construction water by way of on-site discharge to a lateral extension of the Toms River Municipal Utilities Authority (TRMUA) sanitary sewer system. The primary contaminants of concern in the waste stream included total suspended solids (TSS) and manufactured gas plant related compounds (MGPs).
